Students analyse classical theories that have informed sociology. They begin with foundational theories from 1848-1919 that dissect modernity from the individual to societal levels. They continue with theories developed during major world conflicts (1919-1945). The course concludes with theories emerging during decolonisation and development (1945-1965).
