Students study concepts of microbiology with emphasis on the role of microbes in the development of diseases. They explore classification and identification of microbes, microbial metabolism and genetics, identification and control of pathogens, transmission of diseases, immunity and host existence. A laboratory component (BILB 223) is corequisite to this course.
